One-on-one coaching (clinic) DEPRECATED

THIS EVENT HAS BEEN REPLACED BY ANOTHER PROPOSAL (see link at bottom of this text) UPDATE: I have rethought this and rewritten this idea in a different form, in another session proposal. I am puzzled by the negative votes... I am planning to do this, just letting you know. If you dislike it, feel free to head somewhere else, If you have a problem with it, I'd be curious to hear from you: find me on twitter at @deborahh ...more »

Evoke change with Powerful Questions

Powerful Questions is simple, yet strong coaching skill that you can use to move colleagues into action. Well - it'ssimple, but not easy! We have unconscious habits that weaken our questions, like asking yes/no questions! Deborah Preuss will share a short talk on how to frame questions that bring new ideas and encourage change, then we will do an exercise in small groups to practice. Intrinsic motivation based on 4 Drive Theory

It appears that humans have an intrinsic drive to acquire, to bond, to learn, and to defend. Organizations where members cannot satisfy all four drives more or less equally either drive good people out the door or cause erratic, illogical and destructive behavior. This session is based on the 2002 book "Driven - How Human Nature Shapes Our Choices" by Harvard Business School professors Paul Lawrence and Nitin Nohria. ...more »

Pitch(es) and Propositions

"Putting it on paper lets you start fixing it. If it stays in your head, a perfect idea, you'll never share it with anyone." Emma Coats, Pixar, on basic story rules. - We know there's a better way. Well, fine. But what do we tell a manager who's asking us: "You want me and my organization to change - so what are your points? What is it that you propose, and how do you want to add value over what is there today?" ...more »

What is the complete list of reasons why we need to leave traditional management practices behind us. So why do we think that companies that do not live according to lean, agile, management 3.0 or radical management ideas will not survive.

Finding a Stoos Network ambassador

In light of getting a movement going, it should help a lot if a well-known person could be attracted to come to Stoos Stampede Amsterdam, participate in the discussions and become an ambassador. My proposal is to start an urgent activity. Given overly filled agenda’s, this would need to happen quickly. Hence, I’ll start with a candidate proposal right away. My candidate is Herman Wijffels. He is a well known individual ...more »

The Bremen Town Musicians who by cooperating scare away the thieves? A good story resonates with your audience on more and deeper levels than any, excuse my French, boring presentation on methods and strategy. A good story captivates your audience and will be remembered. It addresses fears ...more »
